My Little Firecracker

The summer is flying by and the 4th of July will be here before we know it.  I was feeling patriotic when I decided to give the MFT Wednesday Sketch Club a try today.  This little lady is too precious...I have just a few of the Pure Innocence stamps, but she is definitely a favorite!  I hope you enjoy this little sparkler as much as I do.  You can find this stamp set here.

I used the following supplies for this card:

K & Co Paper ~ Americana
Jim Holtz Distress Ink ~ Antique Linen
Memento Ink ~ Tuxedo Black
Copic Pens~  B97, B93, R27, E35, E31, E00
Spellbinders ~ Lacey Circles
Ribbon ~ Crinkled Seam Ribbon (ETSY)

Have a safe and Happy Summer!

If you have any questions about my work or where I purchased my supplies, please contact me and I'll be happy to share the information with you.  If you'd like to purchase this card, please visit my Etsy shop, the link on the right side of this blog.

Art by Accident...sure why not?!

It all happened last week when my sweet pal Dawn and her girls came to New Bern to have a girls day out with myself and Addison {{who happens to be my niece who is visiting from Indiana.}}  These three particular girlies hadn't met before so we weren't quite sure how it would go, but had a feeling they might hit it off since they are close to the same age.  Hit it off they did...a few hours playing at the pool then off we went to down town New Bern.  There we stopped for Ice Cream at the *WORLD Famous, my words not theirs* Cow Cafe...YUM!  We went all crazy and had desert before dinner!  You'll notice everyone is saying...moooooooo instead of cheese in this pic.  My idea, lame...I know.

On to Accidental Artist we headed,  but not before stopping to hug a few of the town bears first.  Accidental Artist is a very family friendly place full of ideas...you can even have a birthday party there.  Mine is coming up in August so I'm thinking...hmm...maybeeee...nah just teasin' but it is super cute in there.  No, I'm not getting paid for this endorsement.

These girls know how to strike a pose, don't they?

Addison wasted no time getting down to

business with her brushes and glaze!

I think I had as much fun as the littles that day.  Addison chose a fish and a peace sign.   She did a great job on them and has a little memento of her trip here to take home with her on Friday.

The three cut ups after we were finished....

Now...here's what I created.  I felt like I was in 5th grade again in Mrs. McCoy's art class at Coloma Middle school.  I was proud as can be to hand this little number over to my daughter as a gift.  She loves pottery and interesting pieces so why not  share with her, right?

I hope that my niece always remembers her first *big girl* trip to NC and the friends she has made as well as the fun she had.  I'm very thankful that I was able to spend this time with her.
Making memories and enjoying your family & friends, that's what life is all about.

Saying Thanks

I am one of those people who are fortunate enough to have some really great friends in my life.  The type of friends who say..."You're going out of town?  I'll keep Teddy for you!"   How do you repay someone for being so kind and generous and taking such good care of your furry family member?  Well...with a bottle of wine and a gift card of course!

This holder was created using pieces I had left from a card order.
All it took was just a 12" x 4 " sheet of designer paper by Martha Stewart.
I folded and scored to make the pocket.  I used scor tape on the sides. The pretty
ribbon you see on here is crinkled seam binding that I ordered online.

I thought just a simple paw print would do along with the sentiment.
That stamp is a PTI set called With Sympathy Loss of Pet. I combined it with
another PTI set {Tag It's 1} It's fun to mix and match sometimes with
these stamp sets.  Even using different manufacturers can really change things up
if you are feeling dangerous!  Did I just say that in relation to stamps? Oh, brother!
I used a circle punch from Stampin Up to create the opening  for the neck of the bottle.

Oh yes, In case you were wondering about the wine?  It came from Michigan.  I thought it sounded really yummy and the label is pretty cool too!

So....there you have it.  Another take on a gift card/money holder.  You can find so many different versions out there and they really do add such a personal touch when it's time for giving.

Now I'm off......it's been a LONG day!

My Attempt at Something New

A sweet friend of mine asked me for some help with a wedding gift.  I was thinking about the usual scrapbook type gift, but wanted to make something different that I hadn't created before.  So.....I always look to the internet and blogs when I'm lacking inspiration and the creativity needed to come up with something new and here's what I found.....Thank you, Melissa Thiesse for this great tutorial!!  If you don't follow Melissa's blog you really should.  She is a great source of information and her creativity is amazing!

Now I will post my take on the Mini Album.....
and to think, it started out as a plain file folder!

BEFORE decorating the pages

A Front Pocket for Mementos

I used Basic Grey Papers and Embellishments for the entire book.

Added some Fun Stamps and Stickers

The Back Cover

Congratulations to this beautiful couple!  Their special day is also special for me because it's my daughter's birthday!

Enjoy your day....create something that makes you smile.
