Teacher's Week in Donna K's Studio Corner

I am having such fun with my newest Graphic45  "An American Primer" paper stack that I picked up at Betty's store in Greensboro this summer.  I was in the area celebrating my birthday and did some shopping ....courtesy of Big Joe....whatta guy!

I thought this selection would be fantastic to use it for teacher gifts and cards and I think I was right.
Just love that vintage feel of Graphic45 papers and accessories.

I really love the mini composition note pad that is shown in this set.  The ribbon closure along with the gingham bow and button add the perfect touch.

Here are a few of the things I created...stay tuned for a few more teacher gifts later this week.  Some of these items are available for purchase in my ETSY shop.  All of them will be available at the upcoming craft shows on November 19.  I'll post more information on those shows for you local folks who might want to journey out and say howdy!

Thanks for allowing me to share my creations with you.  Enjoy your day!

Sometimes You Just Need to Organize

I've been working like crazy on items for upcoming craft shows the past few weeks. This week has been dedicated to Teacher Items (to be posted soon). But... I HAD to stop.  Take a breather and straighten out some of my supplies.

Ribbon has always been a difficult thing for me to store.  I've tried, bins, a drawer, baggies and finally I decided to use an idea I saw out there on someone's blog, but can't for the life of me remember who.  It recommended using balsa wood to store ribbon so...that's what I did.

{{ I think that I should have used a bit sturdier wood, maybe beech wood.  I may change to that if the balsa doesn't hold up for me. }}

I put my ribbon in bunches by color and went from there.  My small storage unit with three drawers was crammed full of ribbon that was way too over loaded.  I had a hard time finding anything, but  is now nice and neat.  My "after" pics show just how nice it is.  I wish I had taken "before" pics.

The first drawer is my "extra" and bulky ribbons, this will actually be the bottom drawer now.
The middle drawer will actually be used the most and my top drawer, how cool is this?!
The third drawer will be my second most used drawer, holding my seam binding and twines.

I'm quite pleased with this little project and now I must get back to work.  Today is pumpkin hunting day and I have a lot to do before we start out in search of the perfect jack o lantern to carve.

Hope you have a GREAT day today!

I Believe in Pink

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and I was busy all day yesterday whipping up some treasures to support awareness and to honor those fighting the fight.  I lost my dear grandmother to breast cancer in 1994.  Several people I know personally have won the battle and are proud survivors.  As I created these note pads, cards and tags yesterday I thought of each of them and how much their battle has meant to those who love them.

The large books in the back are altered composition books.  Such fun to create and make your own.  You can pick them up at just about any store, the usually come in black and white for around $1.00 and with some creativity they become a beautiful way to write down your thoughts.

The cards you see in these photos are stamped with the Unity Stamp of the Month.  This particular kit is October 2011  "Faith, Hope, Love...live by it" If you haven't tried Unity stamps you should.  I'm really becoming a fan of these amazingly well crafted rubber stamps.

I Believe in Pink ~Audrey Hepburn ( Unity Stamp)

The small altered composition books are stamped with Paper Trey Ink's "Take Note" stamps and lastly the tag is stamped with Verve's "Believe" set.  The paper is from Me & My Big Ideas "Mambi" pack and the punches are Stampin' Up.  I was all over with my supplies on these projects, but I had such fun and thought you might enjoy what I came up with.

Cherish today and those you hold dear.

Too Cute to Spook

Hello and Happy Fall ya'll!  Is it really October 11th already?  Oh my...where has month...week...YEAR gone?  I keep reminding myself that things will slow down, but I'm not very convincing.

Ok, getting down to business.  A "too cute to spook" card with the sweetest little munchkin ever!

Baby Andrew wasn't about to give up his bottle for the photo shoot!

I was working on a card order for a friend this week..it goes in the mail today, but I wanted to share with you what I came up with.  First...a vintage looking card with a Too Cute message.  I picked up this stamp in the craft section at Walmart.

THEN.....

BOO cards that were created from the two left over pictures I had.  Love that sweet little face inside the O for a personal touch.

So...Boo!  to you...and have a fantastic rest of the week!
